The Hawaiian Island's stunning landscapes offer endless opportunities to make your special moment unforgettable. Hawaii has so many beautiful views that it can actually be overwhelming picking the perfect setting for your proposal spot.

Whether you're dreaming of a beach proposal in the soft sand at sunset or dramatic cliffs with a mountain backdrop, these five spots on my curated list are guaranteed for a magical experience.

Think of me as more than a proposal photographer but a proposal planner too! I've got you covered every step of the way.

1. East Oahu

My top choice for a proposal location on Oahu is definitely somewhere on the east side. East Oahu is packed with stunning locations. If you want a secluded beach head to Kailua or even Kualoa. My favorite Hawaiian Beaches!

Lanikai Beach is a popular spot for its panoramic ocean views and its white sandy beach.

For an extra-special romantic moment, consider renting a boat to reach the Kaneohe Sandbar. Imagine asking the big question on a sandy oasis in the middle of the ocean—just you, your love, and the breathtaking views.

Pro tip: bring leis for an added romantic touch.

2. Kona, Big Island

The Kona coast's dramatic lava rock shores and epic sunsets make it a top pick for adventurous couples.

Picture this: a secluded black sand beach, waves gently crashing in the background, and the golden light of sunset illuminating the moment.

Or, for a more upscale vibe, charter a sunset cruise where you can propose out on the turquoise water.

Bonus: You can toast with champagne after they say “yes!”

3. Makena/Wailea, Maui

Maui's southwestern coast is pure romance.

Makena is perfect for couples who love wide-open spaces. Wailea's smaller, intimate golden sand beaches are ideal for a more private moment.

Pro tip: Plan your proposal around sunrise or sunset for soft, flattering light in your photos. And don't forget to pack a blanket and snacks for a post-proposal picnic—or let me set one up for you!

4. Tracks Beach, Oahu

Right next to Ko‘Olina! Propose on the sandy shores of Tracks Beach with a gorgeous sunset and then celebrate with a romantic dinner at one of the nearby oceanfront restaurants.

This Beach is located on the south shore so it gets a panoramic view of sunset which avoiding much of the crowd.

Insider tip: Weekdays are less crowded, so you can have the perfect intimate moment without too many onlookers.

5. Kapalua Bay, Maui

Kapalua Bay's iconic crescent-shaped beach and crystal-clear waters make it one of Maui's most romantic spots. This beach sunset is perfect for a golden-hour proposal with palm trees swaying in the breeze and the sun setting over the horizon.

My favorite thing to suggest after is a dinner at Merrimans! This stunning beach is located right next to one of my favorite upscale dining locations on Maui making it a truly special location for a proposal.
